Embracing Your Personal Growth

According to Stylecaster.com over a million selfies are taken everyday! Are we so self absorbed with how we look? What is the benefit to taking and posting selfies anyway? The definition of a selfie according to Dictionary.com is: a photograph taken with a smartphone or other digital camera by a person who is also in the photograph, especially for posting on a social media website. A selfie is just a picture for social media!

What does the selfie really say about you?

1. It is a moment frozen in time

2. It is not just a picture – it tells a story about your current situation that you want to boast about to others

3. It is who you really want to be at that time. (happy, smug, unhappy, model like, silly)

4. It is forgotten after it is viewed

Don’t get it twisted having pictures of ourselves documenting specific events is a good thing. However, taking selfies constantly can’t really enhance your personal growth! If we spent time looking truly at ourselves and our needs we might desire to grow our personal value.

A selfie captures your outside appearance but personal growth reflects who you are from the inside out. Unlike the selfie our personal growth is not a moment frozen in time. When we pay attention to our personal growth things keep moving. A new class, podcast, a new book, conference etc. Like the selfie personal growth is living in the moment but it is also moving in the moment. It changes the way you look at things. It changes how you do things going forward, it moves you forward. Unlike the selfie personal growth is not who you want to be at the time but it helps you reach who you will be by constantly growing. Best of all Personal growth unlike the selfie is always evolving and never forgotten!
